About

Originally from California, Tammi Shamblin began her dancing career after she found a local studio in a phone book at the age of eight. She pursued her love of ballet while on scholarship at the University of Utah. She returned to Sacramento after receiving her BFA in Ballet with an emphasis in pedagogy and performing.  While there, she directed a youth ballet company and danced with Sacramento Ballet. She moved to NYC in October of 2003 and began working with Deborah Lohse.

Tammi was a full time faculty member and Director of Dance Academics at Ballet Tech, a public school for ballet for 20 years. She began her Pilates training while studying at the University of Utah and received her 500 hour certification from Body Tonic in Brooklyn, NY.  She began teaching group & private clients in Pilates, and continued her training to receive a certification in yoga. She has her RYT 200 Certification from Abhaya Yoga and continues to train with Abhaya founder Tara Glazier.

Her somatic background gives her great insight into personalizing classes and workouts for each client. She has studied extensively in therapeutics and can offer a wide range of movement based activities for all ages. In her free time she can be found baking and entertaining, swimming, hiking in her new area of Westchester, and raising her infant son, Sep.

Beyond the task of introducing young boys to the vocabulary and grammar of classic dance, there’s the issue of concentrating their intellect, imagination and physical appetites. Tammi accomplishes this with a magic of her own invention.
